| So I'm down here at San Diego Comic Con International, and it's crazier than ever. The crowds are insane, the lines are insane and the whole thing is, well, insane.
Thus far I've only been to 2 panels and mostly spend my time in various lines for various toys. The downside is that the lines are terrible. The upside is that my friends and I are all pulling together to help each other out so that we can all get what we're looking for. Whether it's guys here at the Con like Randy, Brian, Scott, Dan and Chris, my brothers back home like Bill or the pals I only see once a year at Con like Pierre, Jason, Dan, and Jeff, we're all looking out for each other!
But that's not what I'm blogging about. Y'all can get toy news and horror stories about lines and stuff all over the web (I personally recommend www.actionfigureinsider.com).
What was extra fun tonight was getting to see a FREE TNA Wrestling Show! You see, I'm staying at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, and tonight there was a "Wrath of Con" party with honorary guests Zach Snyder, Director of "300" and "Watchmen," and "Transformers" and "Star Trek" writers Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman and sponsored by, among others, TNA Wrestling!
Now this was a very exclusive private party, but my room overlooked the rooftop venue of the party! So I got perfect view of the festivities!

There was one match which featured The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley) versus the team of Christopher Daniels and Suicide. The frightening Miss Tracy was the special referee!

The Match:

It was a great match from some of the best guys in the business, but when all was said and done, the Guns won!

Of course, like good sports, everyone was friends at the end!

And finally, we got a few words from one of my favorite wrestlers, KURT ANGLE!

He literally only said a few sentences of thanks, but it was still pretty cool seeing him there!
All in all a fun little surprise bit of entertainment for the evening!

| So Friday my dental odyssey finally came to an end!
That's right, all 4 of my wisdom teeth were pulled. They were fully erupted, so it was pretty routine. The whole procedure took less than an hour.
I felt little if anything. Just pressure, no pain. My dental surgeon was excellent. A distinguished gentlemen who just oozed professionalism and confidence. He numbed me up very well, and constantly checked to make sure I felt no pain.
It was odd, all I could feel was vague pulling and the clicking of the tools. I heard a loud crack once, but other than that I could scarcely feel the moment when each tooth was dislodged.
I have to admit that I closed my eyes to avoid looking at the bloody tools and teeth, and could not help but think of one of the anti-heroes of Joe Abercrombie's excellent "The First Law" series, the crippled torturer Sand dan Glotka. He was a victim of torture which left him with only half his teeth, so though I felt nothing, I could not help imagining just how bad the pain would be if one were to have teeth pulled with no anesthesia.
Recovery has been pretty easy. The surgeon offered me Vicodin, but said I would probably be okay with Ibuprofen, to which I agreed. I much prefer starting with the minimum of drugs and moving up if necessary and so far the Ibuprofen has been more than enough. Just a dull ache that begins to set in toward the end of each 5 hour dose.
There was quite a lot of bleeding the first day, and I got strangely used to the taste of blood in my mouth. Odd, since as a child I HATED the taste of blood and would dread nosebleeds. But this time it seemed an annoyance at most. At this point it's just some thready blood here and there.
As for eating, I feel I could chew just about anything but don't want to risk jabbing the gums or losing a blood clot, or just getting food stuck in the wounds. So it's been a lot of avocados, mashed potatoes, ice cream, soup, tofu, steamed eggs and other soft foods.
All in all, not so bad really. And my jaw feels so roomy now!
